Wednesday Creations

Today I made 2 small  ties -swhite with black roses  . I also am making a red shirt - not for me. Working on the collar , then I will be done.

I put some color in my blog. Lilac is so pretty, calming and inspirational. Funny thing about colors. I like things colorful when possible, but I always wear black. Occasionally I wear red or gold, too.

Not bad for someone who went to sleep at 5 AM and got up at 6 AM.

Until next time,

Black and white creation for me

Lost power and internet for a while but am back on. Glad I had a flashlight to see the electrical box in the way too dark basement.

I just finished making an over blouse and a matching 3/4 length over jacket for me. The fabric is polyester knit. The color is black with large white roses with white leaves and stems. It has 3/4 to full length sleeves and pockets. The fabric was bought at that $1.99 a yard fabric store in Auburn, MA ( Thank you, Rachel & Mike.)

Wonder what I will make next?

Saturday Splash

I came home today from a yard sale and found my office ceiling had leaked from all the rain we have been having. Splashed on top of a tall wooden cabinet, then on top of a metal file cabinet, down to the  table attached to the wooden cabinet and down to my new printer. Besides cleaning the mess, I had to move some things again.

I searched online for a way to make jumbo rick rack without buying a machine that I can't afford.  No such luck so I will be making my own template and hand cut it. That should be interesting.

I just finished making the bottoms of some red ribbon flowers. Pulling the wire was therapeutic. Tomorrow I hope to finish.

A Not So Quiet Thursday

The managment company and a few workers were working on the left side of the townhouse. They were removing furniture left behind by a former tenant who had lived there 16 years. When the tenants left, they left a house full of furniture. Today we brought home bunk beds for the grandchildren that they had left. Just need new hardware  and a few adjustments ..

The workers cleaned it by tossing things out a window from the 2nd floor to a truck below. Loud noise gives one a super headache . Creativity went out the window for today as well.

The only thing I made today was 2 more ties in blue calico. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

My Brother overlock machine is gone and I am smiling.

I got a Brother Over lock 925D serger machine a few years ago. Never could figure it out enough to make it work the way I wanted it to or thought it should  . It gave me frustration and headaches. This week I tried again. No such luck. Today I decided  to sell it. I put it on my local community helper and it sold  withiin an hour. It's already gone. I had a smile on my face and green stuff in my pocket.

I bought  pizza for the grandchildren. They were smiling. They have been cleaning and changing rooms so pizza was a surprise. So was the cleaning.

I am now back to sewing on my mom's sewing machine. It's working again, thank God. I am smiling as probably my angelic mom is ,too. I made a tie for my daughter to wear to work at McDonald's. Made it in 30 min or less.

Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. The embroidery /sewing machine I used to have never worked right and made a lot of noise. The overlock serger never worked for me. New fangled gadgets. But my mom's old machine still works. It feels like home .

Tues. - The office rearranging is done.

Today was the 1st day of summer- also my youngest grandchild's 1st birthday.

I have rearranged my office around 3 times before since I moved here. Now the 4th is the charm.I have access to the windows, have more chairs for sitting, a plastic bookcase was added.  The small TV is on top of the metal filing cabinet which is on top of the fold down table.( Thinking Trump Tower and building up using air space.)

My printer is on the table as well. My desk is now in the middle of the room with some space around it.  Spooky can now access the window without jumping on my back to do so.

The  excess books I haven't used since college are going to be donated to the Book Bin. One bin to look though and one box of papers to be sorted, put into my  genealogy program  then get ripped up and brought to recycling.

Then I will be done and can get back to life.

Scissor storage

Monday- I am still in the process of reorganizing my office. Space is limited.  I had  been trying to find a way to store scissors in plain sight but away from grandchildren's hands and others that might use my good sewing scissors for paper and crafts. GRRR!

I now have 2 old metal key racks hung on my laundry room wall. There my scissors are- in sight, out of the way and very safe. Besides me,  who goes into the laundry room anyway!

Sunday - my introduction

Still trying to figure out blog as well as trying to get 'my office' into some sort of functionality. Some things are a given such as the red carpet and the beige walls. Others are mine- like my handmade lilac and purple curtains. I have pig chimes that had belonged to my mom  and metal and gem dragon flies hanging from the ceiling. On one side I have 4 bookcases of genealogy research. On the other side I have sewing and art supplies aka storage. Spooky enjoys the window and I can hear my grandchildren as well as keeping an eye out for them. One doorway leads to another  then to the backyard. The other doorway leads to the kitchen where meal  creations happen on the stove.
